Mighty Caleb At The Bat

This ain't the tale of ol' Casey at the bat n his disappointment of a third strike. This be the rousing story of Mighty Caleb and a trip round the bases.

With his eye on the ball, he swung a powerful stroke n....crack!

Them boys be divin this way n that to catch up with that piece 'o greased lightin...n Caleb reached first base!

He gave a pause, then a wink...then with the quickness of a cat that dun touched the electric fence, he scooted this way n that...touchin upon second, then third...kicked up a cloud 'o dust n stole the plate! Score one fer the home team!

Yee Haw Hee Haw!

Buck, Roy, Minnie n Junior rolled through these parts n gathered us round for a time of tale tellin' n song. Always good when fam'ly shows up, even better when they brings the pies!

Ma n Spark n Bub participated whilst Pa n Ki n Cub sat back bein jus a little shy with the kinfolk. However, when the geetar struck its first chord, everyone warmed right up. Even Pa tapped his foot to the country toons.

Palisade, Nebraska. Population 386. Salute!

Frontier Explorers

They ventured out into the vast wilderness...behind the cabin. Twasn't the woods, but pretty close to the edge. Caleb n Tom took up in the spirit of Dan'l Boone and staked their tent beneath the hunter's moon.

The coyotes howled n the hooters hooted...n they roasted what prey they poached from Ma's cupboard n ate it all with chocolate, marshmallow n graham. The boys be lookin to head next to the Klondike in the shadow of the Grizzlie. Good luck. Tis wiser to taste s'more than be tasted by bear...

Back On Broadway

The littlest littlins returned to the stage and done sung out a preformance Misters Rodgers n Hammersteins wudda been proud of.

Ki done belted out melodious vocals tellin tales of a big ol' box.

Bubba played the roll of bouncer...er, chief of staff to a King in a tear jerker about a bird called a nightingale. Standing ovashuns all around!

Birthday Beauties

Belated felicitations to our blonde babies who dun turned 19 and legal in a few more states on May 8. Cubby, we wishes ya continued cuteness n smarts, cuz if one don't get you ahead, the otherin might. Sparky, we wishes ya less spankins n a bigger bday pie next year at this time. Flight Stimulator

Twas an outin' to be remembered, but one to be confusin' Pa's expectations. He done took Caleb to see the Air 'n Space Museum.

Pa didn't understand the attraxion cuz you can't see air nor space. He done thunk there was plenty of that all round the cabin as our regular breathin' proved, but maybe this air smelled better.

So they bots their tickets and went in. Well...bust my buttons...it was about aeroplanes 'n rockets 'n such! Big birds and some small birds and even a whirly bird.

Caleb was plumb tickled when he got inside a big box called a flight stimulator that spun him this way 'n that, just like he was really flyin'. Pa chose not to get in the box as he did not want that kind of nauseous stimulation.

Easter Comings n Goings

The holy week done come n gone, which wasn't the only thing that showed up n disappeared. You could say that the cabin had a revolvin door as friends n family walked in, out, around, here, there n everywhere.

Cassie rolled on in on Wednesday with schoolmate Cheyenne, stuck around long enough to dye eggs before hoofing it out on Friday.

Caleb forsook the sacred cackleberry colorin tradition to battle bad guys on the eyebox with wires n buttons. His combat brother was Colton.

Katie showed up on Friday lookin for some lovin, got her fill n beelined it back to big school on Sunday. Course she stayed round long enough for Easter vittles.

Joinin us at Ma's table were Granda Fred n Grandma Nada...along with a fuzzy bunny.

The poor pup tried to keep up, but the comings n goings left him plumb tuckered out.
